The latest X-Men Epic Collection is essential reading for those who want to understand or relive the truly “epic” era of Marvel’s mutant stars.
The X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills Epic Collection contains the 1982 graphic novel of the same name that many consider the greatest X-Men story of all time. The controversial tale (televangelists of the day railed against it) by Chris Claremont and Brent Anderson forever cemented the plight of the mutant in the minds and hearts of all readers.
The new Epic Collection also contains Wolverine’s first four-issue solo series by Claremont and Frank Miller that established Logan as the most popular hero of the 1980s.
In addition to those two gems, God Loves, Man Kills includes The Uncanny X-Men #168-175, The Uncanny X-Men Annual #7, and X-Men entries from The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe.
All additional stories are written by Claremont, with art by Paul Smith, Walt Simonson, John Romita, Jr., Michael Golden, Bret Blevins, Bob Wiacek, Joe Rubinstein, Tom Mandrake, Terry Austin, Brett Breeding, Steve Leialoha, Sam DeLa Rosa, and Al Milgrom.
Highlights from the monthly comics include the growing romance between Kitty Pryde and Colossus, the first appearances of Callisto and the Morlocks, Rogue’s debut with the team, the wedding of Cyclops and Madelyne Pryor, and a comical appearance by the Impossible Man.
The X-Men: God Loves, Man Kills Epic Collection consists of 496 pages for a suggested retail price of $44.99.
