Relive the Origins of the First Superhero in ‘Superman: The Golden Age’ Omnibus Volume 1

DC releases another edition of the stories that started the superhero genre with the latest print of Superman: The Golden Age Omnibus Vol. 1.

The Golden Age Omnibus collects Action Comics #1-31, Superman #1-7, and New York World’s Fair 1939 and 1940 by Jerry Siegel, Joe Shuster, Jack Burnley, and Wayne Boring.

Staring with Superman’s debut in 1938, the early adventures portray the Man of Steel as a social crusader fighting for all those who need a bullet-proof champion. Superman’s girlfriend Lois Lane and Lex Luthor (with red hair at the start) are also introduced into the mythos in the first volume.

The Omnibus also contains a foreword and afterword by Jim Steranko.

The Superman: The Golden Age Omnibus was initially released in 2013, and again in 2016 and 2019 (with the original Action Comics #1 cover by Shuster). DC wrapped up the rest of Superman’s Golden Age adventures with four more volumes, with the last volume (Vol. 7) being released in 2022.

It is likely that DC will continue to reprint the other volumes following this one, as the other Omnibus editions have never been reprinted.

The hardcover Omnibus consists of 784 pages for a suggested retail price of $125.00.
