‘Expedition Unknown’ and ‘Expedition Files’ Return for New Seasons in November

Josh Gates brings back not one, but two of his series this November when both Expedition Unknown and Expedition Files return to Discovery.

Expedition Unknown premieres on Wednesday, November 5 at 9pm ET/PT on Discovery Channel, followed by Expedition Files at 10pm ET/PT.

Expedition Unknown starts with a two-part episode inside Egypt’s Great Pyramid, using first-of-its-kind 3D scans of a mysterious tunnel system, allowing Gates to replicate the mysterious construction methods of the Pyramid.

Other episodes this season of Expedition Unknown will focus on the search for a multi-million dollar treasure from an infamous stagecoach heist, an exploration of the Oregon coast on a real-life Goonies quest on the 40th anniversary of the film, a dip into the Baltic Sea to fins a lost Nazi submarine, and a hunt for Cornelius Vanderbilt’s lost steamship in crocodile-infested waters in Nicaragua.

“This season, I’m taking viewers on the kinds of adventures I dreamt about as a kid,” said Gates. “I never imagined I’d actually get to seek out the real Spanish treasure that inspired The Goonies or crawl through pitch-black tunnels under the Great Pyramid of Giza. I’m even hunting for a gold rush fortune with a Gold Rush star, Parker Schnabel. These are the kinds of stories that remind us the world is still full of wonder.”

Topics profiled on Expedition Files this season include a new theory about the fate of Teamsters leader Jimmy Hoff, the hunt for the Holy Grail, the disappearance of German inventor Rudolf Diesel, the Salem Witch Trials, a high-tech analysis of the most legendary Bigfoot footage ever captured, Cleopatra’s mysterious death, and Russia’s Amber Room.
