Hulk fans have waited fifteen years for the second volume in the classic Incredible Hulk Omnibus series to continue some of the earliest adventures of the Jade Giant.
The Omnibus picks up where Volume One left off in 2008 (reprinted in 2022) with The Incredible Hulk #103-134 and The Incredible Hulk Annual #1.
The stories from the late 1960s and early 1970s are written by Gary Friedrich, Bill Everett, Roy Thomas, Archie Goodwin, and Stan Lee, with art by Herb Trimpe, Marie Severin, Frank Giacoia, Sal Buscema, George Tuska, Syd Shores, John Severin, and Dan Adkins.
The Omnibus also contains an introduction by Hulk artist extraordinaire Trimpe, whose art graces the majority of the collection.
As is often the case with the green-skinned goliath, he has some “disagreements” with fellow heroes in the Marvel Universe such as the Inhumans, the Sub-Mariner, the Thing and the rest of the FF, the Avengers, and Ka-Zar and Zabu of Savage Land fame.
The Hulk doesn’t leave out the villains however, as he punches various members of Hydra, Kang the Conqueror, the Rhino, the Mandarin, Crusher Creel: The Absorbing Man, the Sandman, and his arch nemesis the Leader, in the jaw throughout the collection.
Long-time readers will also indulge in some nostalgia with battles with some less famous, but certainly colorful adversaries such as the Space Parasite, the Missing Link, Umbu, the Galaxy Master, Super Humanoid, the Glob, the Night-Crawler (not the lovable X-Man), Draxon, and Mogol.
Along with all of the comics, the Ominibus also contains the original series’ letters pages and a host of bonus material and artwork.
The Incredible Hulk Omnibus Vol. 2 consists of 832 pages for a suggested retail price of $100.00.
Check out the covers by Trimpe and Jim Steranko (comic shop variant version) below and stay tuned to Conskipper for news of Hulk Omnibus Vol. 3, hopefully much sooner than the wait for Volume Two!
