‘Iron Man: Demon in a Bottle’ Now Available in New Epic Collection

David Michelinie, Bob Layton, and John Romita Jr. begin their memorable Iron Man run in the new Iron Man: Demon in a Bottle Epic Collection.

Demon in a Bottle collects Iron Man #115-139 and includes additional writing and art by Bill Mantlo, Jim Shooter, Roger Stern, Jerry Bingham, John Byrne, Carmine Infantino, Sal Buscema, Alan Weiss, Bob Wiacek, Dan Green, Tom Palmer, Joe Rubinstein, Eduardo Barreto, Ricardo Villamonte, Al Gordon, and Bob McLeod.

Michelinie, Layton, and Romita Jr’s character-defining run introduces both compatriot James Rhodes and evil industrialist Justin Hammer, bringing in a new level of espionage and intrigue to the Iron Man stories.

The award-winning “Demon in a Bottle” storyline, profiling Stark’s battle with alcoholism, further added nuance and trauma to the playboy billionaire persona of Stark.

Other highlights in the Bronze Age collection include a three-issue conflict between Iron Man and the Hulk (guest starring Ant-Man), the five-part “Casino Fatale” story featuring a host of Shell-Head’s rogues gallery such as the Blizzard, Melter, Whiplash, the Beetle, Constrictor, Discus, Leap-Frog, Man-Killer, Melter, Porcupine, Spymaster, Stiletto, and Water Wizard, a Sub-Mariner battle and then team-up against Roxxon Oil, a retelling of Iron Man’s origin, and disputes with the Ani-Men, Dreadnought, Titanium Man, and Madame Masque.

The Iron Man: Demon in a Bottle Epic Collection consists of 480 pages for a suggested retail price of $54.99.
