Namor completes his Bronze Age run in the Sub-Mariner’s latest Epic Collection.
Namor: The Sub-Mariner: The Invasion of New York collects Sub-Mariner #50-72 and Marvel Spotlight #27, with many of those issues featuring art and scripting by Namor’s original creator, Bill Everett.
Along with Everett, the Epic Collection includes work by Mike Friedrich, Dan Adkins, Steve Gerber, Marv Wolfman, Steve Skeates, Bill Mantlo, Sam Kweskin, Win Mortimer, Don Heck, Frank Bolle, Vince Colletta, George Tuska, John Tartaglione, Jim Mooney, Frank Giacoia, Syd Shores, and Don Perlin.
Referred to as both the “Scourge of the Sea” and the “Savage Sub-Mariner” in this era, Namor confront some Golden Age villains such as Prince Byrrah and Venus, as well as Bronze Age opponents like Orka, Dr. Hydro, Piranha, the Slime-Thing, the Dragon Lord, and Torg the Antarctic Abomination.
Other highlights in the Epic Collection include the debut of Namorita, a new costume for Subby, conflicts with Sunfire, Thor, Spider-Man, and another all-out Atlantean invasion of New York City.
Namor: The Sub-Mariner: The Invasion of New York Epic Collection consists of 496 pages for a suggested retail price of $54.99.
