Scott Dunbier’s Act 4 Publishing, in partnership with Skybound, continue their Artist’s Edition line with a brand new Marvel Heroes by Gene Colan Artist’s Edition in 2027.
The 176-page, 12″ x 17″ edition showcases Colan’s super hero work for Marvel, including pages from Captain America, Daredevil, Doctor Strange, and even Howard the Duck.
The Artist’s Edition collects covers by Colan, as well as stories written by Stan Lee, Gerry Conway, and Roy Thomas, and inks by Bill Everett, Tom Palmer, Joe Sinnott, and others.
The Marvel Heroes by Gene Colan Artist’s Edition will also present three complete stories: Captain America #137, Daredevil #63, and Tales of Suspense #97 (featuring Iron Man).
As an added bonus, there will be two foldouts presenting four classic Twice-Up oversized covers by Colan.
Gene Colan was one of the core Marvel artists for decades,” said Artist’s Edition editor and publisher Scott Dunbier. “His unique and often stunning storytelling abilities made him a fan-favorite on some of their most iconic characters. This book has some truly incredible work in it.”
Similar to other Artist’s Editions, although the pages appear to be black and white, the art is scanned in color, enabling readers to experience the pages with all of the ink gradients, blue pencil, and other aspects of the original art pages.
Gene Colan’s Tomb of Dracula Artist’s Edition was released by IDW in 2018.
Other previously released Act 4 Publishing and Skybound collaborations include Jim Aparo’s DC Classics Artist’s Edition, Darwyn Cooke’s The Complete Spirit Connoisseur Edition, Wally Wood’s EC Stories Artist’s Edition- EXPANDED, George Pérez’s The New Teen Titans Artist’s Edition, and The Amazing Spider-Man by Steve Ditko Artist’s Edition.
José Luis García-López’s DC Classics Artist’s Edition will also be released in 2027.
Marvel Heroes by Gene Colan Artist’s Edition will be available at your local comic book shop on April 7, 2027, and at bookstores on Tuesday, May 4, 2027 for a suggested retail price of $150.00.
