Spider-Man Sounds Off in First ‘Marvel: SFX’ Anthology ‘Thwip!’ Comic

Spidey’s web shooters’ signature sound get their own comic book in the first issue of Marvel Comics new SFX anthology series.

Marvel SFX: Thwip! (by Jed MacKay, Stephen Graham Jones, Rainbow Rowell, Lucas Werneck, and Alessandro Cappuccio) kicks off the new anthology with stories built around the signature sound effect.

“THWIP was the SFX heard round the world when Artie Simek lettered it in ASM #36 and it’s finally getting its due!” said Editor Nick Lowe. “Spidey has had his fair share of anthologies, but this one is special and we are filling it with some of the most fascinating voices in comics and literature in 2026. These stories, each with a hook on Spider-Man’s webs, run the gamut from thrilling you to making you sob uncontrollably!”

It is anticipated that other heroes’ trademark sound effects will also be profiled in the future.

Look for the first issue in stores on January 27.
