Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show returns to Broadway in 2026 after a twenty-six year absence.
The revival will be directed by Tony Award nominee Sam Pinkleton (Oh, Mary! and You Will Get Sick) at the Roundabout Theater Company’s Studio 54 theater, adding even more glitz, glam, and decadence to the production that both Rocky Horror and Studio 54’s disco legacy are known for.
Surprisingly, The Rocky Horror Show‘s first experience on Broadway was more Brad than Janet, opening on March 10, 1975 and closing on April 5 after 45 performances at the Belasco Theatre. The ill-fated production even stared much of the upcoming The Rocky Horror Picture Show’s cast (the film was released in September of 1975) including Tim Curry, Meat Loaf, and Richard O’Brien
The film rocketed the Rocky Horror Show into space and midnight movie houses across the nation, with a level of fame and notoriety over the last five decades that would make even Dr. Frank ‘N’ Furter blush.
Riding off the aforementioned cult status, Rocky Horror came back to Broadway in 2000 at Circle in the Square, running for more than 437 performances and starring Tom Hewitt, Dick Cavett, Joan Jett, Lea DeLaria, Daphne Rubin-Vega, and Raúl Esparza.
No cast or dates have been released for the spring 2026 revival.
