Turner Classic Movies has long been the go-to spot for classic horror and science fiction aficionados, and this October TCM rolls out the red carpet for genre fans with hundreds of hours of spooky content.
The headline event is, of course, TCM’s Halloween-a-Thon which begins on October 30 and lasts past the witching hour on October 31, with 26 consecutive films. The films begin on October 30 at 6:00 am ET with Two on a Guillotine (1965), followed by It! (1967), El Vampiro Negro (1953), Cat People (1942), I Walked with a Zombie (1943), The Seventh Victim (1943), Return to Glennascaul (1952), Eye of the Devil (1966), Curse of the Demon (1957), Peeping Tom (1960),
The Tenant (1976), Häxan (1922), Cronos (1993), Eyes Without a Face (1960), The Bat (1959), House on Haunted Hill (1959), Horror Hotel (aka City of the Dead) (1960), The Curse of Frankenstein (1957), Horror of Dracula (1958), The Mummy (1959), The Devil’s Bride (1968), Dracula A.D. 1972 (1972), The Plague of the Zombies (1966), Bride of Frankenstein (1935), Son of Frankenstein (1939), and Frankenstein (1931).
And if you feel like staying up all night, The Invisible Man airs at 12:45 am ET on November 1, followed by fellow Universal Monster classics: The Wolfman (1941), Dracula’s Daughter (1936), and The Black Cat (1934).
But you don’t have to wait until the end of the month for you classic horror fix, as Mondays in October have been dedicated to Creepy Cinema and Saturdays feature the TMC star(s) of the Month in the form of Robots.
Creepy Cinema is hosted by Mario Cantone and Ben Mankiewicz and features realistic mysteries with horror elements during primetime (8:00-11:00 pm), such as Dead Ringer (1964), Possessed (1947), Rope (1948), Obsession (1976), and others.
Robots take over on Saturday’s in October (starting at 8:00 pm) with Metropolis (1927) and Forbidden Planet (1956) on October 1, The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) and Westworld (1973) on October 8, THX 1138 (1971) and Robocop (1987) on October 15, Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine (1965) and Making Mr. Right (1987) on October 22, and Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974) and Deadly Friend (1986) closing things out on October 29.
