Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and Criterion combine their cinematic powers for a new season of The Plot Thickens podcast titled “Stanley”, featuring an 11-episode exploration of Stanley Kubrick’s films.
Hosted by TCM host Ben Mankiewicz and premiering on September 24, “Stanley” features excerpts from a never-before-heard audio interview with Kubrick himself from 1972 by Newsday film critic Joseph Gelmis during the release of A Clockwork Orange.
The podcast also includes new interviews with Katharina Kubrick, Steven Spielberg, Sofia Coppola, Matthew Modine, Josh Safdie, George Miller, Phil Rosenthal, Michael Bauman, Lee Unkrich, James Harris, Claire Dederer, and Jon Ronson.
In conjunction with the new season of The Plot Thickens, TCM will also present “Completely Kubrick”, a four-night event in September on TCM celebrating the entirety of Kubrick’s work. All of the films will screen on Thursdays in September (beginning on September 3), starting at 8:00 PM ET.
If you’d like to own all of the Kubrick films, Criterion will release the 30-disc Complete Kubrick 4k UHD box set on October 20, featuring restored and remastered versions of each of his thirteen films and three shorts and over twenty-five hours of interviews, documentaries, and behind-the-scenes materials.

The new season of The Plot Thickens will be available on all major podcast apps and platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Spotify and YouTube, with new episodes released every Thursday.
