‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ Defeated by ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts; Surpasses Original Film’s Entire Box Office Total

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse may have lost a close battle to the Autobots, but Spidey and his Amazing Friends did manage to surpass the original film’s entire box office take in only two weeks of release.

Across the Spider-Verse hit $226 million in North America and $390 million globally after week two. Into the Spider-Verse finished its run with $190 in stateside and $384 million around the world.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts beat Spidey by $5 million for an estimated $60.5 million debut (compared to Spider-Verse’s $55.4 million second weekend).

The durable robots earned a less-than-stellar Rotten Tomatoes score of 52%, with a much better Audience Score (91%) and a positive Cinemascore A- rating.

Even with all of the competition at the box office, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is still posting strong box office numbers, with an $805 million worldwide total, trailing Vol. 2 by less than $60 million at this point.
