Juan Díaz Canales and Juanjo Guarnido’s Eisner- and Harvey Award-winning Blacksad series continues this fall in Dark Horse Comics English-language edition of Blacksad: They All Fall Down Part Two.
Canales and Guarnido’s anthropomorphic noir tale is once again translated for English-language readers by Diana Schutz and Brandon Kander, and newly lettered by Tom Orzechowski and Lois Athena Buhalis.
The second part of private investigator John Blacksad’s story opens with his best friend unjustly headed to the electric chair, as he tried to untangle all of the lies and treachery perpetrated by Lewis Solomon.
Schutz (who we interviewed about Part One in 2022) said “Blacksad is such an international success that it’s now published in twenty-eight different languages throughout the world. But it’s no secret that Spanish creators Juan Díaz Canales and Juanjo Guarnido are especially involved in the Dark Horse edition of their work. Juan and Juanjo have created a quintessentially American hero, letting him—and his impeccable moral compass—loose in a 1950s noirish New York City, but remember that all of this is originally conceived and written in Spanish.
