DC Comics is no stranger to Infinite Earths (or infinite reboots), but the new DC All In line-wide initiative is sure to shake things up once again with a new universe and a host of new creative teams.
DC All In springs out of the last issue of Absolute Power (issue #4 on October 2) and leads to a Marvel-style Ultimate Universe dubbed the Absolute Universe.
The origins and a preview of the new Absolute Universe begins with a single-issue flipbook called DC All In Special #1 (also out on October 2), co-written by Scott Snyder and Joshua Williamson with art by Daniel Sampere and Wes Craig.
The Absolute Universe is being described as a world where a new set of reimagined heroes of the DC Universe “…come of age with fewer advantages while facing greater opposition than ever before and retaining the immutable heroism that continues to inspire and entertain fans.”
Snyder further explained the impetus behind the new line of comics, and said “The creation of the Absolute Universe is how I always imagined coming back to DC, and DC All In will be a great jumping-on point for new readers as well as lapsed fans to discover new stories to love and the chance to explore the new directions in store for DC’s core series lineup.”

Snyder will return to a new version of Batman with artist Nick Dragotta who does not have the financial means of the DC original in Absolute Batman #1 on October 9.
Wonder Woman and Superman are also stripped of many core attributes of the classic characters, with no Paradise Island or mission of peace for Wonder Woman (in Absolute Wonder Woman #1 by Kelly Thompson and Hayden Sherman on October 23) and no home or family values for Superman (in Jason Aaron and Rafa Sandoval’s Absolute Superman #1 on November 6).
In addition to the new Absolute line, in what DC Comics is now referring to as their Core Line, existing titles will welcome a number of new creative teams such as Tom Taylor and Mikel Janín on Detective Comics (starting with issue #1090 on October 23), Mark Waid and Clayton Henry on Action Comics (issue #1070 on October 9), and Chris Condon and Montos on Green Arrow (issue #350 on October 23).
The current teams on Superman (Joshua Williamson with new artist Dan Mora), Wonder Woman (Tom King and Daniel Sampere), and Batman (Chip Zdarsky, Jorge Jiménez, and Carmine Di Giandomenico) will remain the same as part of the All In initiative.
