Yo Joe! Skybound’s ‘G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero Compendium Set’ Shatters Kickstarter Record

There was no stopping the dogged determination of G.I. Joe fans everywhere who made the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero Compendium Set the new Kickstarter record holder in the comic book/graphic novel category.

The G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero Compendium Set supplanted the former record holder, Good Omens: The Official (and Ineffable) Graphic Novel, for most funds raised with a whopping total of $3,699,658.

Good Omens retained the most backers record with 36,867 backers to Joe’s 10,248 (which had a much higher price tag that backers had to shell over for the various tiers).

The G.I. Joe and Cobra-branded hardcover sets consist of four volumes containing all of the original Marvel Comics stories (written by Larry Hama), including the Yearbooks and mini-series.

The campaign fulfilled all 21 stretch goals, and an additional five “special missions” (five more trading cards).

With the success of the G.I. Joe campaign, can a Transformers deluxe Compendium Set be far behind? Before the Kickstarter campaign launched, Skybound announced the publication of a paperback edition of the G.I. Joe Compendium, and a Transformers edition is also on the way in 2025.
