Saladin Ahmed & Dave Acosta Launch Kickstarter Campaign for Dracula Graphic Novel ‘DRAGON’

Saladin Ahmed and Dave Acosta are hearing into dark territory for their latest graphic novel. The creative team just launched a Kickstater campaign for DRAGON, an atmospheric story set during the Ottoman Empire and featuring characters on the hunt for Dracula himself.

According to the Kickstarter campaign, “DRAGON tells the story of Adil, a fallen old Muslim warrior, and Marjorie, a zealous young Christian nun, two scarred heroes who must overcome inherited bigotries and mutual distrust to hunt a demonic creature that wears the skin of a prince — Vlad the Impaler, known to history as Dracula.”

The Kickstarter campaign launched today, and it features a deluxe, oversized hardcover edition of DRAGON. The book is available for a $39 pledge, but the creative team is offering a 20% discount to backers who pledge their support within the first 24 hours of the campaign. There is no planned digital or paperback release for DRAGON at this time, so the oversized hardcover will be the only way for fans to experience the text.

Ahmed is the writer of DRAGON. His previous works include Black Bolt and Throne of the Crescent Moon, and he is the current writer of Miles Morales: Spider-Man and The Magnificent Ms. Marvel. Acosta illustrated the graphic novel. His resume includes Dynamite’s Elvira: Mistress of the Dark series and Vampieralla, The Shadow, and Doc Savage.

DRAGON is colored by Chris O’Halloran (Ice Cream Man), and the book features lettering by Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou (Red Sonja, Protector). Nate Cosby (Thor The Mighty Avenger, Red Sonja) serves as editor for DRAGON.

The Kickstarter campaign for DRAGON is set to run until August 6th, 2020. Stay tuned to Conskipper for complete coverage of this exciting new project as soon as it breaks!
