The Marvel Fanfare Omnibus collection begins with Vol.1 of the innovative prestige format anthology series from the 80s.
Beginning in 1982, Marvel Fanfare Omnibus Vol. 1 collects the first 19 issues of the comic shop exclusive series known for creative flights of fancy, more mature takes on existing and new characters, and pin-up art by some of the best illustrators of the era.
All stories are written by Chris Claremont, Roger McKenzie, Jim Shooter, Charlie Boatner, David Anthony Kraft, David Win, David Michelinie, Mike W. Barr, Sandy Plunkett, Roger Stern, Steven Grant, Bill Mantlo, Peter Gillis, J.M. DeMatteis, Ralph Macchio, Mary Jo Duffy, Ann Nocenti, Robbie Carosella, Alan Zelenetz, and Marv Wolfman.
Marvelous art is provided by Michael Golden, John Byrne, Paul Smith, Terry Austin, Frank Miller, Trevor Von Eeden, Armando Gil, Dave Cockrum, Bob McLeod, Joe Rubinstein, Al Milgrom, Bob Downs, Dan Green, Marshall Rogers, P. Highlights include the four-part Uncanny X-Men/Spider-Man/Ka-Zar Savageland adventure by Claremont, Golden, Smith, and Cockrum, the four-part Black Widow spy caper by Macchio, Perez, Milgrom, Sinnott, Abel, Layton, Luke McDonnell, Beatty, and Breeding, and main stories featuring Doctor Strange, the Hulk, Man-Thing, the Scarlet Witch, the Vision, the Thing, Captain America, Sky Wolf, and Cloak and Dagger.
Each issue of Marvel Fanfare also featured a back-up story. Vol. 1 contains back-ups starring Hawkeye, Daredevil, Swashbucklers, Mr. Fantastic, Deathlok, Iron Man, Captain America, Doctor Strange, Wolf Boy (an adaptation of The Jungle Book), the Warriors Three, the Inhumans, Submariner, and the Hulk.
The Omnibus also contains an introduction by Milgrom about Marvel Fanfare’s history and legacy. Marvel plans on releasing two more volumes to complete the series in the future.
Marvel Fanfare Omnibus Vol. 1 consists of 736 pages for a suggested retail price of $100.00.
