Expedition X returns to Discovery Channel on Wednesday, August 14 at 9PM ET/PT to uncover a new set of paranormal mysteries, from ghosts to cryptid creatures.
Josh Gates returns as “team leader”, along with Phil Torres and new member Heather Amaro, who replaces Jessica Chobot on the series.
In the season opener, Josh Gates leaves the ruins of ancient locales, and goes back to his Expedition Unknow roots, as he joins Torres and Amaro in West Virginia for a two-part investigation at one of the most haunted buildings in America: the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum.
Other episodes will focus on the Loch Ness Monster, the haunted streets of Savannah, Georgia, the skunk ape, and a creature in the Michigan woods who has a connection to a government conspiracy.
Expedition X will also serve as the lead-in to the new season of Expedition Bigfoot, which will air at 10PM ET/PT on Wednesdays as well.

Instead of leaving loyal followers in the dark over the departure of Jessica, Discovery and Expedition X is failing to be forthright about her no longer being part of the show. Why do this? Does Discovery and Expedition X care so little about its viewer base. If this was a decision made by Jessica, then why not say so. As someone who has followed Josh’s escapes for years, I always thought of him as an up right guy. So what is the story as many of us will greatly miss Jessica’s wit and insight.
Jessica posted on Facebook today that she is not returning as she is now working on another project with the Discovery Channel. She gave a cryptic hint that it involved weird sh*t that she loves combined with some other weird sh*t that she loves.
I agree wholeheartedly. Just minutes into Season 8’s 1st episode, I already find her replacement off putting, so much so that I missed the show (playing in the background) to research Cassowaries.

I just flipped on the new season of Expedition x and guess what? NO Jessica, what the hay!! Not cool at all. I was looking forward to a brand new season and I was expecting the same team to be on it, Josh, Phil and Jessica. To my surprise though No Jessica!. there’s some new chick. I guess we’d all like to know did Jessica leave on her own, or was she booted for new girl? What ever happened Jessica will definitely be missed.

Please give the new girl a chance, y’all. Most people don’t like change until they live with it a while. Jessica may be getting her own show.

Everyone really misses Jessica! She was a perfect match with Phil. Heather just doesn’t seem to have it yet. I don’t even want to watch Expedition X anymore. I could not wait for it to come back on this season and then to have such a big disappointment. Bad decision guys.

watched 2 shows Heather has no reason to watch very blah really Phil is the only good part of the show
Heather seemed to do a better job later on in Season 8. She appeared more comfortable with the job and with Phil. Phil is already a gem; Heather has added some spice to her job. I loved the bit when they were in a horse-drawn carriage together and Phil asked if that made him her beau. Her response, an emphatic no, was amusing. And since he wears a wedding ring, there’s no need to question why.
Why is Heather dressed in super tight tank tops while Josh And Phil are wearing long sleeves? It makes her look like a bimbo!
