Walter Simonson’s stint on Fantastic Four is the main subject of the reissued Into the Time Stream Epic Collection.
The stories from 1989 and 1990 (originally collected as an Epic Collection in 2014) include Fantastic Four #334-346 by Simonson and fellow artists Art Thibert, Ron Lim, Mike DeCarlo, Rich Buckler, and Romeo Tanghal. Simonson started as the writer in FF #334 (and cover artist) and began fulfilling both scripting and art duties in issue #337 with the “Into the Time Stream” storyline (with the exception of the one fill-in issue in #342 by Danny Fingeroth, Rex Valve, and Chris Ivy).
The other main attraction of the Epic Collection is the four-part summer annual crossover titled “Days of Future Present”, which kicks off with Fantastic Four Annual #23 (also by Simonson, Jackson Guice, and Geof Isherwood) and continues in X-Factor Annual #5, New Mutants Annual #6, and The Uncanny X-Men Annual #14 by James Brock, Jr., Louise Simonson, Chris Claremont, Bob Harris, Len Kaminski, Jackson Guice, Terry Shoemaker, Jon Bogdanove, Art Adams, Tom Morgan, Greg Capulo, Chris Wozniak, Mark McKenna, Al Milgrom, Larry Mahlstedt, Scott Williams, Harry Candelario, Dan Green, Bob Wiacek, and Steve Mancuse.
The collection ends with Marvel’s First Family lost in time in #346, leading to the introduction of the 90’s all-star team of Ghost Rider, Wolverine, Spider-Man, and the Hulk taking over briefly for the missing crew.
The Into the Time Stream Epic Collection consists of 504 pages for a suggested retail price of $49.99.
