Jim Starlin’s Breed series gets collected in a new Monkey Wrench Press Omnibus edition.
Jim Starlin’s Breed Omnibus contains all three Breed series, plus a wealth of extras, totaling 550 pages.
Starlin said, “Looking back at Breed is a real pleasure. I think I did some of my best ink work on that initial Breed run. Having just recently reread the series, I’m still proud of the story. I’m so pleased that we can now offer his journey to a new generation of readers and give the old fans a fancy omnibus edition to put on the ol’ bookshelf.”
Starlin also called Breed “…the best work I ever did. I rank the Breed series even over my Thanos and Dreadstar series. It’s, quite simply, my favorite creation.”
Breed is the story of Raymond Stoner, an ex-soldier who discovers his true demonic heritage and engages in a battle against the demonic forces of the world.
The first Breed series was originally released in 1994 by Malibu Comics as part of their creator-owned label called Bravura. A sequel would follow later in the same year known as Breed II or Breed: The Book of Ecclesiastes. Starlin moved Breed to Image Comics in 2011 to finish the story in Breed III (The Book of Revelations, which even included an appearance by Dreadstar and the crew).
Various collections of each individual series (in trade paperback and hardcover edition) have been made available over the years, but Breed has never been collected in one volume before the new Monkey Wrench Press Omnibus.
The Jim Starlin’s Breed Omnibus is available to back on Zoop until July 4.
