‘Marvel’s Mightiest Monsters’ Celebrated in New Deluxe Edition

Dark Horse Books and Marvel Comics present an in-depth look at Marvel’s Mightiest Monsters in a new deluxe hardcover edition this fall.

Editors and comics historians John Lind and Chris Ryall serve as curators for the giant compendium (7″x10″) of stories featuring creatures like Fin Fang Foom, Groot, Monsteroso, and Xemnu, and work by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Larry Lieber, and Steve Ditko.

Modern monster stories featuring some of the classics by Chris Claremont, Sal Buscema, John Byrne, Gil Kane, Eric Powell, Tradd Moore, and Arthur Adams are also included in the collection.

“These monster comics predate the creation of the Marvel Universe,” said Ryall, “but in so many ways, these stories by Lee, Kirby, and Ditko helped establish the blueprint of larger-than-life characters brought to stunning visual life by three of the best creators to ever do it.”

“We’re excited to give the deluxe collection treatment to these classic Marvel ’50s-era monsters—showcasing an impact and influence that still resonate across the kaiju comics of today,” said Lind.

In addition to all of the giant monsters, the edition also includes new essays from comics historians and original Kirby art.

Marvel’s Mightiest Monsters consists of 416 pages for a suggested retail price of $75.00.
