A never-before available reissue of the 1982 DC Comics Style Guide featuring the art of José Luis García-López will be released in November.
The new hardcover edition (produced by Standards Manual) features over 165 highly-detailed scans of the original image plates by García-López’ and Dick Giordano, featuring additional rules, color swatches, and character profiles, originally used to create a total standardization of each DC Super Heroes signature look.
The Style Guide was originally created for licensees, as a way to provide artwork for products and packaging for a wide variety of DC products, and was never made available for fans to purchase.
Other creators and editors responsible for the original Style Guide included Joe Orlando, Neal Pozner, Mary Yedlin, Paul Levitz, and many others.
The book also contains an introduction by Levitz.
The 384 page book is now available for pre-order and will be released on November 16, 2024 in bookstores and comic shops worldwide.
