The third volume in Iron Man’s Omnibus series introduces many of the hero’s rogue’s gallery and rockets the Avenger into the Bronze Age of comics.
Iron Man Omnibus Vol. 3 collects Iron Man #26-67 and Daredevil #73 by a host of legendary creators such as Gerry Conway, Mike Friedrich, Archie Goodwin, Mimi Gold, Allyn Brodsky, Robert Kanigher, Roy Thomas, Gary Friedrich, Bill Everett, Jim Starlin, Steve Gerber, Don Heck, George Tuska, Gene Colan, Herb Trimpe, Ross Abdru, Barry Windsor-Smith, Jim Starlin, P. Craig Russell, Johnny Craig, Chic Stone, Mike Esposito, Syd Shores, Jim Mooney, Frank Giacoia, Vince Colletta, John Verpoorten, and John Romita Sr.
Conway also provides an introduction to the new volume, reflecting on his time on the title.
Tony Stark’s colorful rogues are the highlight here with first appearances by Thanos, Drax the Destroyer, Firebrand, Spymaster, Zoga, Ramrod, Mechanoid, the White Dragon, the Slasher, Mikas, the Guardsman, Night Phantom, Raga: Son of Fire, the Cyborg-Sinister, the Black Lama, Moondragon (as Madame MacEvil), Masked Marauder, and Rokk,
Shell-Head also encounters the Mandarin, the Unicorn, the Collector, the Controller, the Zodiac, the Adaptoid, Princess Python, Submariner, Doctor Spectrum, and the Freak in the stories.
Iron Man’s origin is also retold in issue #47 titled “Why Must There Be An Iron Man?” (by Thomas. Smith, and Mooney).
Iron Man Omnibus Vol. 3 consists of 968 pages for a suggested retail price of $125.00.
The Omnibus comes with two Gil Kane covers to choose from, one featuring the cover of #47 and the comic shop variant featuring a rematch between Iron Man and Namor from issue #54.
