The latest Incredible Hulk Epic Collection takes place in the midst of the green giant’s new found TV stardom, but the adventures contained in the comics was impossible to deliver on late 70’s television.
The Incredible Hulk: Kill or Be Killed Epic Collection contains The Incredible Hulk #227-244, The Incredible Hulk Annual #7-9, Captain America #230, art from the Mighty Marvel Calendar 1979, and new Hulk stories from Marvel Treasury Edition #20 and 24.
Roger Stern and Sal Buscema lead the way for the big guy in most of the issues, with addition writing and art by Peter Gillis, Elliot Maggin, David Michelinie, Steven Grant, John Byrne, Roger McKenzie, Jim Mooney, Carmine Infantino, Steve Ditko, Jack Kirby, Walt Simonson, Dave Cockrum, Herb Trimpe, Klaus Janson, Mike Esposito, Bob McLeod, Bob Layton, Chic Stone, Jack Abel, Joe Sinnott, Alfredo Alcala, and Don Perlin.
Highlights of the collection include the first appearance of future Thunderbolt, Moonstone and tussles with Hulk’s therapist Leonard “Doc” Samson, Machine Man, S.H.I.E.L.D., Tyrannus, Goldbug, Sasquatch, and the Living Colossus. Annual #7 boasts an exciting Stern, Byrne, and Layton collaboration featuring X-Men and Champions members Ice Man and Angel being rescued by the Hulk from the ultimate Sentinel, Master Mold.
The Incredible Hulk: Kill or Be Killed Epic Collection consists of 520 pages for a suggested retail price of $49.99.
