The latest Avengers Epic Collection, Evil Reborn, captures some of the best Avengers stories from two decades, as the team leaves the 1970s behind and enters the world of the 1980s.
Evil Reborn collects The Avengers #189-209, The Avengers Annual #10, and material from Tales to Astonish #12 (reprinted from Sub-Mariner #12).
All of the stories are written by a who’s who of Marvel talent such as David Michelinie, Steven Grant, Mark Gruenwald, Roger Stern, Jim Shooter, Bob Layton, Bob Budiansky, Bill Mantlo, Danny Fingeroth, J.M. DeMatteis, Chris Claremont, and Tom DeFalco.
The art is equally impressive and is provided by George Perez, John Byrne, Gene Colan, Arvell Jones, Sal Buscema, Carmine Infantino, Don Newton, Alan Kupperberg, Ron Wilson, Michael Golden, John Fuller, Dan Green, Joe Rubinstein, Richard Villamonte, Jack Abel, Brett Breeding, Al Milgrom, Vince Colletta, Gene Day, Mike Esposito, Joe Sinnott, Armando Gil, and Bruce Patterson.
The Avengers line-up of this era boasts a rotating roster comprised of Beast, Captain America, Falcon, Iron Man, Ant Man (Scott Lang), Ms. Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Wasp, Jocasta, Hawkeye, Yellow Jacket (Hank Pym), and Wonder Man.
The Avengers have to contend with a variety of threats in the Epic Collection, ranging from the devious oversight of government stooge Henry Peter Gyrich, to opponents such as the Grey Gargoyle, the Taskmaster (making his debut), Inferno, Red Ronin, the Yellow Claw, Ultron, the Shadow Lord, and the Berserker.
Evil Reborn also features Claremont and Golden’s Annual that introduces the Uncanny X-Men’s Rogue when she was a member of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants.
Avengers: Evil Reborn Epic Collection consists of 528 pages for a suggested retail price of $49.99.
