‘Captain America by Mark Gruenwald’ Omnibus Vol. 3 Continues Classic Run

Mark Gruenwald’s ten-year run on Captain America continues in Vol. 3 of his new Omnibus.

Captain America by Mark Gruenwald Vol. 3 collects Captain America #387-418 and US Agent #1-4 by Mark Gruenwald, Rik Levins, Danny Bulanadi, M.C. Wyman, and Keith Williams.

In addition to the 1991 to 1993 portion of Gruenwald’s run represented in Vol. 3, the Omnibus also collects additional Cap stories from the ear in Captain America Annual #11 (Part 1 of the “Citizen Kang” storyline by Roy Thomas, Larry Alexander, and Kathryn Bolinger), the three-issue prestige format mini-series Punisher and Captain America: Blood and Glory (by D.G. Chichester, Margaret Clark, and Klaus Jansen), and the Ghost Rider/Captain America: Fear one-shot (by Howard Mackie, Lee Weeks, and Al Williamson).

Highlights in the Omnibus include the two six-part adventures titled “Man and Wolf” and ‘The Superia Stratagem”, the first appearance of the Captain America of Germany named Hauptmann Deutschland, a trip to the Savage Land with Black Panther, Ka-Zar, and Diamondback, the first US Agent solo mini-series, Operation: Galactic Storm crossover issues, and battles against the Red Skull, Scourge, Crossbones, and Jack ‘O Lantern and Blackwing.

Captain America by Mark Gruenwald Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 should still be available at your local comic shop.

Captain America by Mark Gruenwald Omnibus Vol. 3 consists of 1,184 pages for a suggested retail price $125.00.
