Experience a ‘Mutant Massacre’ in New ‘Uncanny X-Men’ Epic Collection

The latest Uncanny X-Men Epic Collection contains a few of the more famous “Mutant Massacre” issues and a number of Marvel Universe crossover series of the era.

The X-Men: Mutant Massacre Epic Collection includes the Uncanny X-Men #211-219, Spider-Man vs Wolverine one-shot, Fantastic Four vs X-Men #1-4, and X-Men vs Avengers #1-4.

All stories are written by Chris Claremont, Roger Stern, Christopher Priest, Tom DeFalco and Jim Shooter.

Art is provided by Marc Silvestri, Mark Bright, Jon Bogdanove, Alan Davis, Jackson “Butch” Guice, Bret Blevins, Keith Pollard, Rick Leonardi, Barry Windsor-Smith, John Romita, Jr., Dan Green, Terry Austin, Joe Rubinstein, Al Williamson, Paul Neary, Bob Wiacek, Steve Leialoha, Bob McLeod, and Al Milgrom.

The “Mutant Massacre” was the first-ever mutant crossover event when the Marauders begin hunting the Morlocks under the street of New York City, resulting in a rapid and direct response from the X-Men, X-Factor, and the New Mutants. As stated previously, the Epic Collection only contains three of the Uncanny X-Men issues, including the first Wolverine and Sabretooth in comics.

The Epic Collection is also missing the first issue in the “Mutant Massacre” crossover (Uncanny X-Men #210), which was part of the X-Men: Wounded Wolf Epic Collection.

Other highlights include a battle with the Juggernaut, the addition of Psylocke, Longshot, Dazzler, and Havok to the roster, the Spider-Man vs Wolverine one-shot (which further complicated the origins of the Hobgoblin), and two hot mini-series from 1987 starring the X-Men and the Avengers and the Fantastic Four respectively.

Much of the material in the Epic Collection is also available in the Mutant Massacre Omnibus. Marvel even released an X-Men: Mutant Massacre Prelude Omnibus in 2024.

The X-Men: Mutant Massacre Epic Collection consists of 504 pages for a suggested retail price of $54.99.
