‘Bucky Reborn’ Again in ‘Captain America’ Epic Collection

Bucky is back! Well, not really… (that would take another forty years), but besides a typical comic book bait-and-switch, the reissued Bucky Reborn Epic Collection contains plenty of Cap and Falcon action from 1969 to 1971.

The Bucky Reborn Epic Collection (originally released in 2017) contains Captain America #120-138 by Stan Lee, Gene Colan, John Romita, Sr., Joe Sinnott, Dick Ayers, Frank Giacoia, Bill Everett, Wallace Wood, and Tom Palmer.

Captain America enters the turbulent 1970s with a coast-to-coast road trip and experiences plenty of trials and tribulations along the way. Most exciting (and later disturbing for Cap) is the apparent return of Bucky to the world of the living. Unfortunately for Steve Rogers, the return is short-lived, before the truth about the plot crafted by Baron Strucker, Doctor Doom and M.O.D.O.K. is revealed.

Cap does get to team up with Sam Wilson after the Bucky debacle however, starting in 1971 (and lasting for most of the rest of the decade) when the Falcon’s name is added to marque in issue #134.

Cap battles a variety of formidable and not so formidable foes such as Man Brute, the Scorpion, Suprema, the Mandarin, Satan’s Angels (not to be confused, Bulldozer, Batroc’s Brigade consisting of Batroc, Whirlwind, and the Porcupine, and his arch-nemesis the Red Skull.

Another highlight is a typical Marvel misunderstanding with the Amazing Spider-Man, before they combine efforts to apprehend the true problem, the gangster named Stone Face.

The Captain America: Bucky Reborn Epic Collection consists of 400 pages for a suggested retail price of $44.99.
