‘You are Cordially Invited’ to the End of the Original ‘Excalibur’ Series in New Epic Collection

The latest Excalibur Epic Collection brings the original series that started in 1988 to a close, before launching into a new direction for the mutant/magic team.

You are Cordially Invited collects Excalibur #116-125, X-Men Unlimited #19, X-Men: True Friends #1-3, and 2001’s Excalibur mini-series (which ran for four issues).

All of the stories are written by Ben Raab and Chris Claremont, with art by Mel Rubi, Jim Calafiore, Trevor Scott, Dale Eaglesham, Rick Leonardi, Pablo Raimondi, Rob Hunter, Scott Koblish, Andrew Pepoy, Scott Hanna, Mark McHenna, Jimmy Palmiotti, and Jason Martin.

The original group’s adventures wrap up with a visit from the alien Sidri, mini-Nightcrawlers (other wise known as Bamfs), battles against Nightmare and Legion, Nightcrawler’s encounter with the original X-Men team, the wedding of Captain Britain and Meggan (and bachelor party), and a time-travelling conundrum for Kitty Pryde and Rachel Summers.

The Excalibur mini-series (by Raab and Raimondi) adds even more sci-fi and fantasy elements to the genre-bending title, with Captain Britain, Psylocke, the Black Knight, and the Captain Britain CorpsĀ battling over the sword which gives the comic its title.

The Excalibur: You are Cordially Invited Epic Collection consists of 504 pages for the suggested retail price of $49.99.
