Bill Mantlo beings his five-year-long run on the Incredible Hulk in the new To Hunt the Hulk Epic Collection.
The Incredible Hulk: To Hunt the Hulk collects The Incredible Hulk #245-262 and Marvel Treasury Edition #25, originally published between 1980 and 1981.
In addition to Mantlo, the stories contain writing by Mark Gruenwald and Steven Grant, and art by Sal Buscema, Herb Trimpe, Steve Ditko, and Bruce Patterson.
Highlights from the Bronze Age collection include the Hulk busting up a Gamma Base, a visit (or shall we say exile) to Jarella’s world where he encounters the cosmic Gardener, “disagreements” with the Silver Surfer, Doc Samson, Captain Marvel, Thor, 3-D man, and battles with Glenn Talbot (in Super-Mandroid armor), the Absorbing Man, Jack Frost, Woodgod, the U-Foes, the Soviet Super Soldiers, and Dr. Phobos.
The Incredible Hulk: To Hunt the Hulk Epic Collection consists of 488 pages for a suggested retail price of $54.99.

Why they didn’t just go to issue #271 in this collection is beyond me. It’s just nine more issues. That was the final issue of the classic Hulk as he is most famously known. In 272 The Hulk is essentially killed off in favor of one joint persona of Banner’s consciousness and identity with Hulk’s appearance. A true end of an era. There is no telling when or if we will ever get those last nine issues released in a collection.
