The Conjuring: Last Rites, directed by Michael Chaves and produced by James Wan and Peter Safran, will finally end the Ed and Lorraine Warren nine-film franchise this September.
The Conjuring: Last Rites brings back Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson to portray the Warrens one more time in a film based on the infamous Smurl Family case, previously detailed in Robert Curran’s book titled The Haunted.
Farmiga and Wilson star alongside Mia Tomlinson and Ben Hardy (who portray Ed and Lorraine’s daughter Judy Warren and her boyfriend, and current caretaker of the Warren legacy, Tony Spera), as well as Steve Coulter returning as Father Gordon, Rebecca Calder, Elliot Cowan, Kíla Lord Cassidy, Beau Gadsdon, John Brotherton, and Shannon Kook.
The film will be released by Warner Bros. Pictures in theaters and IMAX® in North America on September 5, 2025.
Chaves is no stranger to The Conjuring Universe, having directed The Curse of La Llorona, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, and The Nun II.
Curran’s book is still available in paperback. The book was previously made into a TV movie in 1991, also called The Haunted.
