Turner Classic Movies’ podcast The Plot Thickens returns this fall with season four, and will feature cinematic trailblazer Pam Grier as she shares stories with host Ben Mankiewicz about her life and career.
Mankiewicz points out that “The word ‘iconic’ is overused in this industry, but Pam has been a true revolutionary regarding the depiction of Black women in Hollywood. Pam’s characters are unapologetic, tough and fiercely independent, just like she was when she started in Hollywood five decades ago and remains to this day.”
For those in the Los Angeles area, Pam Grier will also be appearing on April 24 at the 13th Annual TCM Classic Film Festival in Hollywood to introduce her first starring role in the Blaxploitation classic, Coffy.
Turner Classic Movies’ podcast The Plot Thickens Season one premiered in May 2020, with an in-depth look at Peter Bogdanovich’s work both in front of and behind the camera. Season two, “The Devil’s Candy,” (from June 2021) chronicled the anxiety-inducing production of the 1990 film The Bonfire of the Vanities and most recent season shared untold stories about Lucille Ball in October 2021.
