Turner Classic Movies’ podcast The Plot Thickens returns this fall with Season Four on October 25, featuring cinematic trailblazer Pam Grier as she shares stories with host Ben Mankiewicz about her life and career.
Mankiewicz points out that “The word ‘iconic’ is overused in this industry, but Pam has been a true revolutionary regarding the depiction of Black women in Hollywood. Pam’s characters are unapologetic, tough and fiercely independent, just like she was when she started in Hollywood five decades ago and remains to this day.”
Turner Classic Movies’ podcast The Plot Thickens Season one premiered in May 2020, with an in-depth look at Peter Bogdanovich’s work both in front of and behind the camera. Season two, “The Devil’s Candy,” (from June 2021) chronicled the anxiety-inducing production of the 1990 film The Bonfire of the Vanities and most recent season shared untold stories about Lucille Ball in October 2021.
Grier will also appear on TCM on October 19 and 26 to introduce some of her iconic films including Coffy (1971) and Foxy Brown (1974).
