‘Spider-Man 3’ Will Feature Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man has had his fair share of prominent mentors in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but the next man to fill the role is a bit “stranger” than the rest.

According to an exclusive report by The Hollywood Reporter, Benedict Cumberbatch will reprise his role as Doctor Strange in Marc Webb’s Spider-Man 3. With speculation sky high that Marvel will begin introducing new characters such as the X-Men, The Fantastic Four, and alternate versions of existing characters to the MCU, it makes sense that Stephen Strange will try to help guide Peter Parker through some of his issues in Spider-Man 3. The recent news of Jamie Foxx reprising his role of Electro (from the second series of Spider-Man films) also gives credence to the multiverse theory, setting up a potential live-action Spiderverse film.

The sequel to Doctor Strange, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, which will also explore alternate realities, acting as a natural bridge between the films and the concept.

Spider-Man 3 is tentatively scheduled to begin shooting in October as is Multiverse of Madness.
