Robert Kirkman will always been known as the man who brought zombies to the masses through the adaptation of his Image Comic, The Walking Dead.
What the average fan may not realize is that Kirkman also explored the teen superhero trope (in a very adult fashion) with a 145 issue series (also from Image) called Invincible.
At New York Comic Con’s Metaverse panel, Kirkman revealed the first teaser trailer for the upcoming animated adaptation of Invincible, and for all intent and purposes, the animated series appears to closely resemble the source material.
The trailer features young hero Mark Grayson (voiced by The Walking Dead alum, Steven Yeun) and his father, Omni-Man (J.K. Simmons), the most powerful and popular superhero on Earth. As evidenced by the trailer, being the son of the world’s greatest hero isn’t as easy as it looks.
The eight-episode first season of Invincible will premiere sometime in 2021 on Amazon Prime.
Check out the trailer below (and now may be the right time to start reading Kirkman and Ryan Ottley’s critically acclaimed series) and see for yourself!
