A new edition of the hardcover Spectre: The Wrath of the Spectre Omnibus reintroduces the Silver Age spirit to modern readers, before taking him into the even spookier Bronze Age of Comics.
The Wrath of the Spectre Omnibus (originally released in 2020) collects stories from Showcase #60-61 and 64, The Brave and the Bold #72, 75, 116, 180, and 199, The Spectre #1-10, Wrath of the Spectre #4, Adventure Comics #431-440, DC Comics Presents #29, and Ghosts #97-99.
Julie Schwartz and Bernard Baily detailed the new Silver Age origins of the Spectre in Showcase #60 in 1966 before turning over the reins to writers Gardner Fox, Bob Haney, Michael Fleisher, Neal Adams, Denny O’Neil, Mark Hanerfield, Jack Miller, Mike W. Barr, Steve Skeates, Len Wein, and Paul Kupperberg.
The Spectre stories were always well known for their artwork, provided by Murphy Anderson, Carmine Infantino, Charles Cuidera, Bill Draut, Bernie Wrightson, Jack Sparling, Jose Delbro, Russell Carley, Mike DeCarlo, Pablo Marcos, Mike Gustovich, Tony DeZungia, Ross Andru, Mike Machlan, Jerry Ordway, Mike Esposito, Jim Aparo, Ernie Chua, Frank Thorne, Rick Hoberg, Jerry Grandenetti, George Roussos, Frank Thorne, Ernie Chan, Jim Starlin, Romeo Tanghal, Tex Blaisdell, and Neal Adams in the Omnibus.
The Omnibus also contains an introduction by Peter Sanderson.
