Shudder’s ’61 Days of Halloween’ will Include Vincent Price Collection, The Ghoul Log, and ‘The Last Drive-In With Joe Bob Briggs’ Halloween Special

Shudder is ready to give Halloween and horror fans all they can stand this season with not 31, but 61 Days of Halloween on the streaming (or should we say “screaming”) network.

The two month event will feature weekly original/exclusive movie premieres, a new The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs Halloween Special, a collection of classic chillers from horror royalty Vincent Price, a third installment of the Halloween themed The Ghoul Log, and the return of the Shudder Halloween Hotline.

Shudder’s General Manager Craig Engler called “October our ‘Super Bowl month’ but this year we’re starting on Sept. 1, so the 61 Days of Halloween will be our Super Bowl combined with Mardi Gras and Christmas. We start on day one with one of the biggest horror movies of the year, Nicolas Cage in Richard Stanley’s mind-bending Color Out of Space—no less than the best cinematic adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft ever—and roll on through to Halloween with a big premiere every week. And then we’re going to finish October with a surprise that will have horror fans everywhere talking. ”

Popular horror movie host Joe Bob Briggs will debut a new live The last Drive-In Halloween special on October 23 with a double feature filled with all of the typical banter and hijinks that Briggs is known for.

Beginning on October 1, Shudder will offer three of Price’s Roger Corman Edgar Allan Poe films: The House of Usher, The Masque of the Red Death and The Tomb of Ligeia, as well with Theater of Blood and The Monster Club (premiering on October 5).

Also starting on October 1 is the return of The Ghoul Log, described as “…Halloween’s answer to the Christmas Yule Log: a 24/7 streaming jack-o’-lantern providing the perfect ambiance for all your Halloween festivities.”

And for fans of the old school call-in hotlines, for the second year in a row Shudder’s head curator, Samuel Zimmerman, will be offering callers live, personalized horror picks. The number (which will be revealed before the kick-off) will take place every Friday in October from 3 to 4pm ET.
