Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot will team up for another film after Woman Woman 1984… and it ain’t Wonder Woman 3 just yet! The director and star of the popular superhero series will re-team for a new Cleopatra film for Paramount Pictures.
Deadline reports that the film is a, “period biographical drama scripted by Laeta Kalogridis” (Alexander, Shutter Island, Alita: Battle Angel). The movie was Gadot’s idea, and she pitched the film in a Zoom conference with Jenkins on Saturday. Universal, Warner Bros, Netflix and Apple all placed bids on the film, but Paramount won the bidding war.
Work on the screenplay will begin immediately, and Jenkins and Gadot will lend a hand with the story beats of the film. There is no release date set for Cleopatra, but Deadline reports that the film is on an, “accelerated timetable.”
