Patron Allegedly Possessed at Early Screening of ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’

Viewers at a special advance screening of The Conjuring: Last Rites in Texas at the Cinemark Pharr Town Center location experienced their own brand of in-person terror, or promotion, when a man began convulsing at the start of the film.

The brief video from Jetlaggworld shows some of the incident, with the patron making noises and being attended to by what appears to be audience members or staff at the theater.

The William Castle-style promotion began with an appearance by Bishop Bryan Ouellette (who has previously appeared on both Dateline and Ghost Adventures) who sprinkled holy water at the door, gave out St. Michael the Archangel prayer cards, mini plastic holy water bottles, and posters of The Conjuring: Last Rites at a table outside of the theater door.

It is not clear if Ouellette stayed during the screening or attended to the allegedly possessed movie-goer. It also appears that the screening continued after the incident.

Hopefully the incident will not spark a new way of in-theater possessions. If you encounter any such occurrences in your theater, screaming “Chicken Jockey!!!” may bring the possessed individual back to their mortal senses.

The Conjuring: Last Rites opens nationwide for previews on Thursday, September 4 and officially on Friday, September 5.
