National Cinema Day is back with discounted movie tickets for one day only on Sunday, August 27.
Tickets at over 3,000 participating theaters across the country will be only $4, a small increase over last year’s $3 price tag.
All formats and films (including IMAX and Fathom Events features) will be discounted and are now available for purchase.
2023’s inaugural event took place a week later over the Labor Day weekend on Saturday, September 3.
Unlike last year, this summer’s box office has been booming, up to $3.8 billion in ticket sales according to data firm Comscore. That healthy figure is 16.6% ahead of 2022’s numbers at the same time last year.
Last year, the summer re-release of Spider-Man: No Way Home won National Cinema Day (and the weekend) with $6 million for the entire weekend. With the strength of the 2023’s summer box office, expect this year’s winner to bring in a much higher total.
