Mezco Toyz 5 Points XL line completes their latest kaiju series with the long-awaited Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters (1968) Round 1 Box Set.
Now, you might be saying to yourself, completes? What about the second set? Well, for those who missed our last review, Round 2 actually beat Round 1 to the punch in the battle on Monster Island, arriving at retailers a few months earlier than the first set.
But enough about release dates, what about the quality of these critters? Similar to the previously released set, the 5 Points XL line goes the extra mile to replicate some of Toho Studio’s most famous stars with an attention to detail.

The biggest star in the set remains Godzilla who comes complete with the most accessories, including a pair of alternate arms, an alternate head, and his patented atomic breath that attaches inside his toothy mouth. Godzilla is the tallest of the monsters in this set at 4.5″, second only to King Ghidorah from Round 2 at 5″.

Godzilla’s two most loyal allies, Mothra and Rodan are also on hand for the big battle. Rodan comes with an alternate closed-mouth head (for a more serious look) and Mothra’s web attack can be attached to her mouth. Mothra (still in the larval stage at this point) also has a maraca effect when you shake her, which was a nice surprise.

Spiky Anguirus completes the set and is also features an alternate closed-mouth head. Anguirus, like some of the harder to find monsters from Round 2 will certainly please those hardcore collectors looking for rare, or seldom produced, kaiju.

At a price point of $85, Mezco Toyz’ set is a good value for four figures, accessories, and collectible box, especially for those used to ordering high-priced imports from Japan. Both sets are still available directly from Mezco Toyz.
