‘Longlegs’ Opens in Second Place at Weekend Box Office

Longlegs finished in second place at the weekend box office and set a new record for Neon, becoming the best opening for the distributor.

Oz Perkins’ supernatural detective story brought in an estimated $22.6 million and impressed critics with a current score of 87% fresh at Rotten Tomatoes.

The bigger question for upcoming weeks is if the Maika Monroe/Nicolas Cage fright fest will have any “legs” at the box office, as exit scores haven’t been high for the film.

CinemaScore reports a grade of C+ for Longlegs and Rotten Tomatoes Audience Score is a somewhat more positive 66%.

In other “horror business” news, A Quiet Place: Day One finished in fourth place with an estimated $11.8 million (whose domestic total is now a healthy $116 million) and MaXXXine slashed her way into eighth place with only $2 million (and an almost $12 million total at the box office so far).
