‘Legends’ Reshapes Post-Crisis DC Universe in New Omnibus Edition

DC Comics follow-up to their universe changing Crisis on Infinite Earths is collected in its entirety for the first time in a new Legends Omnibus.

The Omnibus collects all 22 parts of 1986’s six-issue Legends mini-series and Batman #401, Detective Comics #568, Green Lantern #207, Cosmic Boy #1-4, Justice League of America #258-261, Secret Origins #10 and 14, The Fury of Firestorm #55-56 and 58-59, Blue Beetle #9-10, The Warlord #114-115, Superman #3, The Adventures of Superman #426, and Action Comics #586.

All stories are written by Barbara Randall Kesel, Joey Cavalieri, John Ostrander, Len Wein, Steve Englehart, Paul Levitz, J.M. DeMatteis, Mike W. Barr, Dan Mishkin, Alan Moore, Michael Fleisher, John Byrne, Marv Wolfman, and Jerry Ordway.

Art is provided by Byrne, Ordway, Trevor Von Eeden, Klaus Janson, Karl Kesel, Joe Staton, Mark Farmer, Keith Giffen, Ernie Colon, Bob Smith, Luke McDonnell, Jim Aparo, Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez, Pablo Marcos, Joe Orlando, Joe Brozowski, Steve Mitchell, Bill Wray, Steve Mitchell, Paris Cullins, Dell Barras, Ron Randall, Steve Montano, Chuck Patton, Terry Austin, Dick Giordano, Bob Lewis, Dennis Janke, and Dave Hunt.

The Legends event series and all of its crossover titles would directly lead into 1987’s Justice League America, Suicide Squad, Flash, and Shazam: The New Beginning series.

While the Legends series has been collected numerous times in trade paperback, the entire event has never been gathered in one release before.

The Legends Omnibus contains a foreword by Mike Gold, an introduction by John Ostrander, and an afterword by Karl Kesel. The collection also includes over 100 pages of behind-the-scenes material detailing the reshaping of the DC Universe post-Crisis, with essays by Michael Eury, Dan Jurgens, Jerry Ordway, Roy Thomas, Greg Weisman, never-before-seen pitches and abandoned concepts for Legends and its spin offs.

The Legends Omnibus consists of 856 pages for a suggested retail price of $125.00.
