Long-time Conan and Robert E. Howard fans were excited to learn that Marvel would once again be able to publish new stories featuring many of the barbarian’s adventures as well as collect many of the originals in new prestige format collections.
Since the acquisition of the license (most recently held by Dark Horse Comics), a number of Conan collections have been released, but May 18, 2021 will see the first collection of REH’s second most famous barbarian get the omnibus treatment.
Kull the Savage: The Original Marvel Years Omnibus will collect all of the Atlantean’s adventures from the more mature magazine comics of the 1970s and 1980s including Savage Sword of Conan, Savage Tales, Bizarre Adventures, Marvel Preview, Conan Saga, and his short-lived stand alone title, Kull and the Barbarians.
The omnibus contains work by writers Roy Thomas, Chuck Dixon, Doug Moench, John Arcudi, Gerry Conway, and Steve Englehart and beautiful art by Val Semeiks, John Bolton, Marie Severin, Sal Buscema, Howard Chaykin, Mike Ploog, and many more.
The Kull the Savage: The Original Marvel Years Omnibus will also be published with a standard and direct market cover. The standard cover will be by illustrated by Mark Brooks and the direct market edition will contain a classic cover by Michael Whelan.
