Marvel Comics continue their exploration of the Alien universe this April with an all-new ongoing Alien series by Declan Shalvey and Andrea Broccardo.
The Alien series will explore new regions of space and introduce a new cast of characters who are conducting research on a icy planet, which naturally brings them into contact with the H.R. Giger-designed monsters.
Shalvey is excited to add to the Alien mythos and says that he feels “…like the themes from the films remain quite relevant to today, which makes me feel like we’re able to tell contemporary stories set in that iconic universe. I’m very much hoping to channel the mood and atmosphere of those films while doing something new and Andrea has done an incredible job of putting the reader in that recognizable world. With this new series, I think we have a really interesting addition to the lore of Alien.”
The new creative team follows Phillip Kennedy Johnson, Salvador Larroca, and Julius Ohta’s take on the Alien franchise, although the story and characters from the previous run are not specifically connected to the first Marvel series.
