Even though the second Blade Epic Collection contains no comics with his name on the marquee, the early ’90s collection serves as a reintroduction to the Marvel Universe of one of its most famous vampire characters.
Blade: Nightstalkers begins with a return to the comic that he debuted in in 1991’s four-issue Tomb of Dracula prestige format mini-series by Blade co-creator Marv Wolfman and original Tomb of Dracula artist Gene Colan (and Al Williamson).
The Epic Collection continues with Blade’s new vampire team created for the “Rise of the Midnight Sons” crossover event (along with Hannibal King and Frank Drake) in 1992’s Nightstalkers #1-6, Ghost Rider #31, and Midnight Sons Unlimited #1 by D. G. Chichester, Howard Mackie, Ron Garney, Andy Kubert, Cynthia Martin, Tom Palmer, Joe Kubert, and Joe Rubinstein.
While Blade and the boys mainly turned their attentions towards supernatural foes, they also take on Baron Strucker’s Hydra, cult leader Shiv, and the Punisher in the collection.
Blade: Nightstalkers Epic Collection contains 432 pages for a suggested retail price of $44.99.
