The start of John Byrne’s run on Avengers West Coast is the main attraction in the rereleased Vision Quest Epic Collection.
Vision Quest collects Avengers West Coast #38-52 and Avengers West Coast Annual #3-4, and a story from Avengers Spotlight #23.
Along with Byrne’s writing and art, the collection also includes writing by Steve Englehart, Mark Gruenwald, D.G. Chichester, Margaret Clark, Tom DeFalco, Ralph Macchio, Fabian Nicieza, Peter Sanderson, and Kieron Dwyer.

Byrne upsets the apple cart immediately on West Coast Avengers, introducing a new incarnation of the Vision, a possessed Scarlet Witch, the addition of the U.S. Agent to the roster, the debut of the Great Lakes Avengers assemble, and the return of the Golden Age Human Torch.
Prior to the new direction provided by Byrne, the team wrapped up a number of plot likes with the Defiler and the Night Shift and Mockingbird’s haunting encounter with the Phantom Rider.
The collection also includes Avengers West Coast-centric summer annual crossovers involving the Evolutionary War and Atlantis Attacks storylines.
Avengers West Coast: Vision Quest Epic Collection was originally released in 2020.
Vision Quest consists of 488 pages for a suggested retail price of $54.99.
