Cartoon Network’s Toonami is known as one of the first networks to bring anime to the masses and they will continue to do so, having unveiled a new original series, Fena: Pirate Princess, at Comic-Con@Home.
Fena: Pirate Princess will air on Toonami and stream on Crunchyroll in 2021 and will consist of 12 episodes. The story follow the adventures of about a young orphan girl, Fena Houtman who was raised on an Island of no hope, under the control of the British Empire. Fena and her band of “not-so-merry pirates” will battle their oppressors and forge new identities along the way.
Sarah Victor, head of development at Crunchyroll, said that “The global anime community is going to love adventuring alongside Fena in this new series setting sail next year. We’re delighted to be working alongside Adult Swim to bring this new series to life.”
Fena: Pirate Princess will be directed by Kazuto Nakazawa (B: The Beginning, Kill Bill) with animation by Production IG.
