The world may have gone sane, but the Defenders are as quirky and entertaining as ever in their latest Epic Collection of mid-1970s madness.
The Defenders: World Gone Sane Epic Collection includes The Defenders #26-41, Giant Size Defenders #5, The Defenders Annual #1, and Marvel Treasury Edition #12.
Guided primarily by Steve Gerber and Sal Buscema, the Epic Collection also contains work by Bill Mantlo, Len Wein, Gerry Conway, Roger Slifer, Chris Claremont, Scott Edelman, Don Heck, Sam Grainger, Klaus Janson, Jim Mooney, Vince Colletta, Mike Esposito, Jack Abel, Frank Giacoia, John Tartaglione, and Dave Hunt.
The “non-team” teams with the Guardians of the Galaxy against the Badoon, battles the bizarre Headmen and Nebulon, and even teams up with Howard the Duck!
Along with the primary group consisting of the Hulk, Doctor Strange, Valkyrie, and Nighthawk, Luke Cage and the Red Guardian also appear as “members” of the team.
2023’s Defenders Omnibus Vol. 2 contained many of the same issues, also bringing Gerber’s trippy, satirical run to an end.
The Defenders: World Gone Sane Epic Collection consists of 408 pages for a suggested retail price of $44.99.
