New ‘Wonder Woman: Black and Gold’ Anthology Features Top Writers and Artists

DC Comics is rounding out their “color” anthology line with Wonder Woman: Black and Gold joining Batman: Black and White and Superman: Red and Blue, just in time for Wonder Woman’s 80th anniversary this June.

The new series consists of six-issues and starts with John Arcudi and Ryan Sook re-uniting to explore Diana’s grace and immortality. From there, Becky Cloonan “…weaves a spine-tingling tale of Diana’s most precious weapon against the darkness, Amy Reeder (Amethyst) takes us back to the Golden Age for a fun romp co-starring Etta Candy. AJ Mendez Brooks (Crazy is my Superpower, Dungeons & Dragons: At the Spine of the World) and Ming Doyle (Constantine: The Hellblazer) travel to Themyscira for a tense family reunion. And finally, Nadia Shammas and Morgan Beem (Swamp Thing: Twin Branches) show us a story of Diana’s past failures come to haunt her.”

Wonder Woman Black & Gold #1 arrives in stores and digital platforms on June 22 and clocks in at 40 pages for $5.99. The main cover is by Jen Bartel, with variants by Yanick Paquette, Joshua Middleton, and a rare 1:25 variant by Ramona Fradon.
