Wolverine’s long, convoluted history is far from “basic”, but the newest edition of his Epic Collection series attempts to get back there.
Wolverine: Back to Basics Epic Collection (originally published in 2019) collects issues #17-30 of his original solo series, as well as 1989’s Wolverine: The Jungle Adventure by Walt Simonson, Mike Mignola, and Bob Wiacek, and the Wolverine/Nick Fury: The Scorpio Connection graphic novel by Archie Goodwin and Howard Chaykin from the same year.
The bulk of Back to Basics consists of Goodwin, John Byrne, and Klaus Janson’s seven-part “Acts of Vengeance” tie-in and Jo Duffy, Bill Jaaska, and Joe Rubinstein’s four-part “Lazarus Project” storyline that sees Logan lose his memory once again in a foreign, dangerous land.
Peter David and Gene Colan also collaborate on Wolverine #24’s “Snow Blind” and Duffy and John Buscema tell a Wolverine-style Jungle Book story in #25.
Wolverine: Back to Basics Epic Collection contains 464 pages for a suggested retail price of $39.99.
